Here's what you need to renew your California Dental license

California Dental: Assistants (Continuing Education)

Online Info

Mandatory subjects:
  • 2 hours of Infection Control specific to California regulations.
  • 2 hours of California Dental Practice Act and it's regulations.
  • 4 hours of Basic Life support (must include hands on demonstration from a certified instructor.

Online Limitations

You cannot receive credit for more than 8 hours per day.  No more than 50% of the required hours can be completed by home-study.

NEW! DEA MATE ACT:
Beginning with DEA initial registrations or renewals starting June 27, 2023, all DEA-registered practitioners (with the exception of DVM-only license holders) are required to complete 8 hours of one-time training on the treatment and management of patients with opioid or other substance use disorders.

Mandatory subjects:

  • 2 hours -Infection Control specific to California regulations
  • 2 hours -California Dental Practice Act and its regulations
  • 2 hours - Responsibilities and Requirements of Prescribing Schedule II Opioids
  • 4 hours- Basic Life Support Course is good for max. of 4 hrs (must include hands on demonstration from a certified instructor)

Online Limitations

You cannot receive credit for more than 8 hours per day.  No more than 50% of the hours can be completed by home-study.
