NEW! DEA MATE ACT:
Beginning with DEA initial registrations or renewals starting June 27, 2023, all DEA-registered practitioners (with the exception of DVM-only license holders) are required to complete 8 hours of one-time training on the treatment and management of patients with opioid or other substance use disorders.
Mandatory Subjects:
- 1 hour - Opioid abuse and/or the proper prescription writing and use of opioids in dental practice
- 1 hour - legal, ethics and professionalism in dentistry
- NEW! 2 hours - Infection control including dental unit water lines
- Proof of CPR certification (CE obtained in the renewal of the certification may apply toward your 40-hour requirement)
Subject Limitations:
- 30 hours must be clinical in nature (pertaining to patient care)
- 20 hours can be from webinars and other forms of online CE
- 20 hours must be obtained in-person (the Board of Dentistry has allowed live webinars and other forms of live virtual CE for the 2022-2023 license renewal period)
