FAQs: License Renewal

Find answers to your questions about Elite Learning.

What do I need to know to renew my license?

Elite is a provider of continuing education. We provide and help you track the required number of CE hours, required courses and the certification needed for professionals to advance in their career and to ultimately renew their licenses, but we are not able to complete the license renewal process for you.

Please contact your professional state licensing board for information on how and when to renew your professional license and to make sure you have the most up to date information on what is required to complete the process. Please note that many states have their own specific requirements and submission deadlines that must be fulfilled prior to license renewal.

License renewal cycles vary by state and profession. The average renewal cycle is 2 years, meaning that you have 2 years to complete the required amount of CE needed before you can renew your license. Some states and professions vary and may renew in 1, 3 or 5-year cycles and renewals can fall in even or odd years.

Renewal deadline dates also vary by state and profession and may be designated by date of birth, date of initial license, or a specific month.

States do typically charge a fee for license renewal. Even states with no specific CE requirements will charge a fee and require timely renewal application submissions so do not wait until the last minute to complete your required course hours or to submit your license renewal application.

Requirements and fees for reinstating a license or renewing an inactive license may be different.

Some professions and states only require you to affirm that you have read and completed all course materials. Other states require you to take and pass a course-related test. Pass rates vary but typically a score of 75% or higher is required in order to pass.

Testing and affirmation requirements vary by both state and profession. Be sure to confirm the requirements with your professional state licensing board.

If you live in a state that uses CE Broker to validate CE courses taken toward license renewal, we will report your hours directly to CE Broker, usually within 24 hours after you have completed the course content (longer for Pharma).

If you live in a state that DOES NOT use CE Broker, YOU are required to keep track of and submit your CE course certificates of completion at the time of license renewal or if the state indicates that you are going to be audited to confirm that your requirements have been fulfilled.

Remember that your state board can choose to audit you at any time. Please keep an accurate record of your course completion certificates should this information be requested. If you have taken courses with Elite, you can find your certificates in your dashboard after you sign in.  Once you are signed into your dashboard, you can also choose to print certificates or have them emailed directly to you.
