About the Course
This course is intended for any death care professional whose field of practice includes embalming, be it for a funeral home or anatomically for an institution of health. The course details the origins, evolution, and modern-day practical application of embalming cadavers, and explores its differences from embalming for funerals. The intermediate course explores the medical versus presentational sides of preservation tactics used by embalmers in the death care industry, as well as its past, present, and future.

About the Author
Taylor Walding, is a duly licensed funeral director and embalmer in the state of Texas since 2013 and has been in the mortuary industry since 2005. While completing mortuary school in 2011, he interned at University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, first learning of the wonders of anatomical embalming then, after graduation from Dallas Institute of Funeral Service, Taylor apprenticed as a funeral director in 2012 at Brown's Memorial Funeral Home in Irving then in 2013 as an embalmer at Restland Funeral Home in Dallas. In late 2018, Taylor returned to UTSW as an anatomical embalmer, learning of the variety of benefits to both families and fellow embalmers in the field.
How to Receive Credit
- Read the entire course online or in print which requires a 1-hour commitment of time.
- After completion of the course, complete the final examination. A passing grade of 75% is required. Test questions link content to learning outcomes as a method to enhance individualized learning and material retention.
- Note to Nursing professionals: Depending on your state requirements, you will be asked to either affirm that you have completed the course, or you will be required to complete the Post-test included in the course.
- Provide required personal information and payment information.
- Complete the mandatory course evaluation.
- Print your Certificate of Completion.
