Supporting Suicide Loss Survivors
Course Overview
This course focuses on the vitally important topic of suicide and how best a funeral director can support those who have lost a loved one to suicide. Topics include suicide prevalence, the dynamics of suicide grief, and the stigma surrounding it.
Learning Outcomes
Upon the completion of this course, the learner should be able to:
- Explain why death by suicide is different from other types of death
- Describe the feelings of suicide loss survivors
- Identify the role of funeral directors in supporting suicide loss survivors
- List ways that a funeral director can create a healing experience for suicide loss survivors
- Recognize situational complications concerning suicide
About the Author/Presenter
Gene Jerskey is a content writer with experience writing about a wide array of subjects related to health and wellness.
