Learning Outcomes

Upon completion of the course, the learner will be able to: 

  • Analyze the concept and history of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), including its origins, development as a diagnostic category, and historical contexts.
  • Differentiate the symptoms of PTSD, including emotional, cognitive, behavioral, and physical, to recognize potential signs in clients.
  • Analyze the phenomena of dissociation and flashbacks in individuals with PTSD, exploring their prevalence, triggers, and implications for therapy professionals.
  • Explore various therapeutic approaches as modalities for addressing PTSD symptoms to improve patients’ functional, emotional and occupational outcomes.
     

About the Author/Presenter
Claudia Phillips, LMT, is a licensed massage therapist and internationally certified yoga teacher with over 10 years of experience. She graduated from Pacific College of Health and Science in New York with an associate degree in massage therapy, specializing initially in sports, orthopedic, and prenatal massage. Claudia holds massage therapy licenses in New York, Florida, and Virginia, along with certification from the MBLEX examination. Her journey into teaching yoga naturally complemented her massage therapy practice, allowing her to contribute to the physical and emotional well-being of her students, clients, and herself. Professionally, she divides her time between serving as the lead therapist at a five-star resort in Panama and working as an independent contractor for massage therapy offices in Virginia.

How to Receive Credit 

  • Read the entire course online or in print which requires a 2-hour commitment of time. 
  • After completion of the course, complete the final examination.  A passing grade of 75% is required. Test questions link content to learning outcomes as a method to enhance individualized learning and material retention.
