About the Course
Branching out into your own business can be a daunting task. How do you even begin? You have a lot of ideas and plans, but when it’s time to put them on paper, you draw a blank! It is important to have a blueprint for your practice – if you can’t write about it, how can you build it? Formulating a business plan can help build a solid foundation for your practice and give you a roadmap to help collect your information, analyze it and formulate your finalized plan. This course will help clarify your ideas and develop strategies to move forward.

Denise Dougherty, a certified Speech Pathologist, received her master's degree from St. Louis University in St. Louis Missouri in Communication Disorders. Denise has practiced in hospitals, clinics, long-term care, home health and private practice. She co-authored Private Practice Essentials: A Practical Guide for Speech-Language Pathologists. published by ASHA. She is a board member for a home health agency and serves as a forensic speech pathologist. Denise has presented at numerous conferences and written for the ASHA Leader on various topics involving private practice.
