About the Course
Throughout this course, clinicians will acquire valuable skills that will enable them to educate clients more effectively about massage therapy practice. Clinicians will learn how to engage with clients during the interview discovery process for massage treatments, which can ultimately lead to a more fulfilling and effective massage experience for them. This course will outline a thorough intake form and how it translates to conducting a professional–client interview. The course will demonstrate steps for massage therapists to develop authentic branding that reflects their expertise as massage practitioners. The therapist will learn valuable insight to build a confident rapport by meeting client expectations. The course will begin by teaching you how to educate your clients, followed by an explanation of the educational awareness that clinicians should consider. Toward the end of the course, you will find three examples of documents, including a written intake form, suggestions for an interview questionnaire, and a client waiver.

About the Author/Presenter
Gilda Smith, LMT, NMT, PDMT, IPT, and certified yoga instructor graduated from the Pennsylvania School of Muscle Therapy in 2001 and has since made education in the science of the body a priority in her massage therapy career. In 2011, she received her yoga certification, and in 2015, she achieved her goal of becoming a continuing education teacher for massage therapy. Ms. Smith is a highly skilled and experienced bodywork therapist, having studied various deep muscle therapeutics such as Pfrimmer, cranial sacral, neuromuscular therapy, and osteopathic connective tissue therapy dynamics. She has trained with multiple experts in the field and has become a certified trauma-informed yoga instructor. This yoga training has led her to study the influence of the autonomic system on the body, which she has incorporated into her unique approach to bodywork. Gilda is certified in myofascial release and has received natural alignment training from Anatomy Train and studied yoga medicine courses, osteopathic positional release therapy, biodynamics, and SMRT (spontaneous muscle release therapy).
How to Receive Credit
- Read the entire course online or in print which requires a 1-hour commitment of time.
- After completion of the course, complete the final examination. A passing grade of 75% is required. Test questions link content to learning outcomes as a method to enhance individualized learning and material retention.
- Note to Nursing professionals: Depending on your state requirements, you will be asked to either affirm that you have completed the course, or you will be required to complete the Post-test included in the course.
- Provide required personal information and payment information.
- Complete the mandatory course evaluation.
- Print your Certificate of Completion.
