Course Overview
This course reviews the various nutrients, lifestyle changes, complementary modalities, and herbal products that may
be used during menopause. Healthcare professionals will gain an understanding of the role of select complementary
and alternative approaches to help their patients manage symptoms and long-term health concerns related to
menopause.

Learning Outcomes 
Upon the completion of this course, the learner should be able to:

  • List the most common health concerns associated with menopause.
  • Discuss nutritional considerations for menopause related symptoms.
  • Summarize recommendations for lifestyle changes during menopause.
  • Discuss the use of complementary therapies for menopause-related symptoms.
  • Explain the safety concerns of complementary therapies during menopause.

About the Author/Presenter 
Christina Bookwalter PharmD, MS MEd, BCPS, BCACP obtained her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from Wilkes University and later her Master of Science in Medical Education degree from Nova Southeastern University. During her career, she has practiced pharmacy in multiple states across various pharmacy practice settings. She actively managed pulmonary diseases, including asthma and COPD, while working as an ambulatory care clinical pharmacist with the Department of Defense and then the Veterans Health Administration. She has taken a personal interest in functional medicine and nutrition management by participating in self-directed learning opportunities and completing continuing education programs on the topic.  She is passionate about medical education and has shared her gift as an educator by teaching patients and peers through medical writing. She has published with various companies including US Pharmacist, NatMed Database, WebMD, and Pharmacy Times.
