Course Overview
Adults with developmental disabilities are living longer and are likely to be living in the community. They may have a variety of health problems and may be seen in any healthcare setting from acute care to nursing homes. There are few nursing education curricula that teach nurses how to best provide care for these individuals. This course will discuss health problems that may occur in adults with developmental disabilities and suggest approaches to care for them. In addition, this course will discuss health maintenance needs, changes related to aging, and the ethics involved in providing care to the 7 million people in the United States with developmental disabilities. - Dizziness and Vertigo 10 5

Course Overview
Dizziness is a nonspecific term used by patients to describe symptoms related to vestibular dysfunction, presyncope, disequilibrium, psychiatric disorders, and other etiologies. A primary complaint of dizziness accounts for 5.6 million clinic visits annually in the United States. Accurate diagnosis and effective treatment of dizziness is very important. Dizziness and vertigo in the elderly elevates risks for falls, the leading cause of disability and death from injury in this population. However, considerable practice variations exist in the management of dizziness and vertigo. This variance between guideline recommendations and clinical practice suggests an important role for educational intervention. - Prediabetes: An Opportunity to Prevent Diabetes 15 7

Course Overview
Prediabetes is a condition that affects more than one-third of the adult population in the United States. As a major risk factor for diabetes and cardiovascular disease, its potential toll on the healthcare system and on the individual is significant. Also known as "glucose intolerance," prediabetes is diagnosed when the blood glucose is higher than normal but does not meet the diagnostic criteria for diabetes. Results from the Diabetes Prevention Program showed that the onset of diabetes could be delayed or prevented with lifestyle interventions in subjects with glucose intolerance who were also overweight and sedentary. This course will describe the pathophysiology and risks associated with prediabetes and diabetes. It will also discuss the lifestyle interventions recommended by the Diabetes Prevention Program. Because lifestyle change can be challenging, the course will provide strategies for motivating and helping patients making these changes. - Women with ADHD: Clinical Insights and Effective Interventions 6 2

Historically, research and clinical attention have primarily focused on ADHD in boys and men, resulting in a significant knowledge gap regarding its presentation in women. This course aims to bridge that gap by examining the unique characteristics, diagnostic challenges, and personalized treatment approaches for women with ADHD.
