NEW! DEA MATE ACT:
Beginning with DEA initial registrations or renewals starting June 27, 2023, all DEA-registered practitioners (with the exception of DVM-only license holders) are required to complete 8 hours of one-time training on the treatment and management of patients with opioid or other substance use disorders.
Mandatory Subjects:
- 5 hours - Pharmacology (3 of the 5 hours must be in pain management or addiction disorders for those APRNs registered with the DEA and who have a PDMP/KASPER account)
One-time Requirements:
- 3 hours - Domestic Violence
- 1.5 hours - Pediatric Abusive Head Trauma (Shaken Baby Syndrome), within 3 years of initial licensure if you did not complete a KY Nursing Program after 12/2011
- 2 hours - Suicide Prevention, within 3 years of initial licensure if you did not complete a KY Nursing Program after 08/2023
- NEW! 1 hour - Alzheimer's Disease and Other Dementias, Board-approved course, completed by 10/31/2027 for nurses holding an active license on 7/15/2024 and within 3 years of licensure for those who obtain licensure after 7/15/2024.
Additional Requirements for Renewal:
- 5 hours - Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner or forensic nursing for SANE credential
