Mandatory Subjects:
- 1 hour concerning prescription opioid drugs, including alternatives to opioids for managing and treating pain and the risks and signs of opioid abuse, addiction, and diversion.
- 1 hour of implicit and explicit bias required for those who provide perinatal treatment and care to pregnant persons.
One-time Requirement:
- 1 hour on Organ and Tissue Donation and Recovery
There is no limit on the number of continuing education hours that may be completed online.

NEW! DEA MATE ACT:
Beginning with DEA initial registrations or renewals starting June 27, 2023, all DEA-registered practitioners (with the exception of DVM-only license holders) are required to complete 8 hours of one-time training on the treatment and management of patients with opioid or other substance use disorders.
Mandatory Subjects:
APNs authorized to prescribe are required an additional 6 hours, one-time only, in pharmacology related to controlled substances, including: pharmacologic therapy, addiction prevention and management, and issues concerning prescription opioid, including: responsible opioid prescribing, alternatives to opioids for managing and treating pain, the risks and signs of opioid abuse, addiction, and diversion.
