Here's what you need to renew your Texas Pharmacy license

Mandatory Subjects:

  • 1 hour - Texas Pharmacy Laws or Rules
  • A Texas HHSC-approved course on Human Trafficking every renewal period

Human Trafficking and Exploitation: The Texas Requirement is approved by the HHSC as of October 16, 2025. 


First-time Renewal:

  • 2 hours - Prescribing and Monitoring Controlled Substances (must be completed within the first year of licensure)
  • A Texas HHSC-approved course on Human Trafficking 

Pharmacists are encouraged (not required) by the Board to take continuing education in the area of a comprehensive approach to the delivery of early intervention and treatment services for persons with substance use disorders and persons who are at risk of developing substance use disorders.
