Ethics
California PTs and PTAs must complete 2 hours of ethics every renewal period.

Course option: Components of Ethics for Healthcare Professionals

Basic Life Support
California PTs and PTAs must complete 4 hours of Basic Life Support training every renewal period, comparable to or more advanced than the American Heart Association's Basic Life Support Health Care Provider course. The course must include a hands-on skill demonstration with a certified instructor.

4 hours of Basic Life Support (Can be taken online, as long as the course is comparable to, or more advanced than, The American Heart Association's Basic Life Support Health Care Provider course. To be comparable you must include a hand on skills demonstration with a certified instructor. This is referred to as a blended course. Course participants are issued a wallet certification card to be used as proof of completion.
