About the Course:
This one-hour course will provide clinicians with an overview of how and why COVID-19 has had such a significant impact on older adults. It will examine the expected clinical presentation in older adult COVID-19 patients in the post-acute phase as well as discuss assessment and treatment interventions. This course will also examine the impact that social isolation has on older adults and how rehabilitation clinicians can make a positive impact on this.

Suzanne Greenwalt, PT, DPT, CCS, GCS, a licensed physical therapist, received her Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from A.T. Still University and a Master in Physical Therapy from Saint Louis University. She has worked in a variety of clinical settings including rehabilitation, skilled nursing facilities, acute care, and outpatient rehabilitation. Suzanne is a board-certified Geriatric Clinical Specialist and a board-certified Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Clinical Specialist. She is an educator in two doctors of physical therapy programs and is an educator and mentor in a geriatric residency program.

- Identify why older adults have an increased risk of contracting COVID-19
- Recognize the expected acute and post-acute presentation of an older adult who has been hospitalized with COVID-19.
- Select appropriate treatment interventions and exercise prescription for older adults in the post-acute phase of COVID-19. 4. Identify 2 negative side effects of social isolation for older adults
