Course Overview

This continuing medical education (CME) article aims to provide physicians with an update on the latest advancements in the management of abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA). The course content will cover various aspects of AAA, including risk factors, diagnosis, treatment options, outcomes, and considerations related to implicit bias and social determinants of health.

Learning Outcomes 
Upon the completion of this course, the learner should be able to:

  • Demonstrate an enhanced understanding of the demographics, risk factors, and natural history of abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA), allowing for improved risk stratification and patient management decisions.
  • Apply the latest diagnostic modalities and screening guidelines for AAA, including ultrasound, CT scans, and MRI, to facilitate early detection and appropriate intervention.
  • Evaluate the various treatment options for AAA, including open surgical repair (OSR), endovascular aneurysm repair (EVAR), and conservative management, based on patient-specific factors and desired outcomes.
  • Discuss emerging therapies, technologies, and areas for further research in AAA management, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement in clinical practice.? 


About the Author/Presenter 

Dalia Saha, MD, is board certified in Internal Medicine and serves as a hospice medical director. Dr. Saha received her training at Brown University and has since dedicated her career to medical education, teaching, and medical writing. With a passion for imparting knowledge and enhancing patient care, Dr. Saha brings a wealth of experience and expertise to her role, ensuring excellence in both clinical practice and educational endeavors.
