About the Course:
The purpose of this course is to update physicians on the current status  and epidemiology of the HIV pandemic in the United States and provide information on the most recent guidelines regarding screening, testing, and managing persons living with HIV and the barriers that prevent optimal care in the primary care setting.

Learning Objectives:
Completion of this course will better enable the course participant to:
  • Describe the current status of the HIV pandemic in the United States and the emerging role of primary care for persons living with HIV
  • Describe modes of HIV transmission and the importance of universal precautions in the healthcare setting 
  • Review current guidelines on prevention, diagnoses, and management of HIV in primary care
  • Describe barriers to optimal care, including stigma
