NEW! DEA MATE ACT:
Beginning with DEA initial registrations or renewals starting June 27, 2023, all DEA-registered practitioners (with the exception of DVM-only license holders) are required to complete 8 hours of one-time training on the treatment and management of patients with opioid or other substance use disorders.
Mandatory Subjects:
1 hour of Laws and Rules/Professional Medical Ethics (must be live/participatory) every two years, included in general hours.
2 hours of Medical Error Prevention (must be live/participatory) every two years, included in general hours.
2 hours of Safe and Effective Prescribing of Controlled Substance Medications every two years, included in general hours.
2 hours of Domestic Violence every third renewal (may be home study), in addition to general hours.

For all first time renewals physician assistants are required:
2 hours of Medical Error Prevention
1 hour on HIV/AIDS, one-time requirement.
PA’s with prescribing privileges must complete 10 hours CME in the specialty area of their supervising physician. These hours can count toward the general 100 hours CME noted above.
