Osteopathic Physicians
Hawaii DOs must complete 40 hours of AMA PRA Category 1 or AOA Category 1-A CME (or an approved non-CME alternative) every renewal period.

DEA-registered practitioners, except those who are solely veterinarians, must complete an 8-hour training on treating and managing patients with opioid or other substance use disorders. This applies one time to DEA registrations or renewals submitted on or after June 27, 2023.

PA Renewal Hour Reduction
Beginning with renewals on or after February 1, 2020, Hawaii PAs must complete 40 hours of AMA PRA Category 1, AOA Category 1-A, or AAPA Category 1 CME every renewal period, down from the prior 100-hour requirement. PAs do not have a non-CME alternative option.
