NEW! DEA MATE ACT:
Beginning with DEA initial registrations or renewals starting June 27, 2023, all DEA-registered practitioners (with the exception of DVM-only license holders) are required to complete 8 hours of one-time training on the treatment and management of patients with opioid or other substance use disorders.
Mandatory Subjects:
- 1 hour of CE on the topic of sexual harassment prevention training
- NEW! 1-hour of Implicit Bias Training*
Additional Mandatory Subjects for Controlled Substance Prescribers:
- Safe opioid prescribing practices - 3 hours
Child Abuse Reporting Requirements:
Beginning January 1, 2021, all licensees who are considered mandated reporters of child abuse and neglect are required to complete training on the subject within 3 months of engagement in a professional or official capacity as a mandated reporter. Physicians must complete the training at least every 6 years thereafter. The training will count toward meeting a licensee's required continuing education, and is provided by the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS).
*For license or registration renewals occurring on or after January 1, 2023, a health care professional who has continuing education requirements must complete at least a one-hour course in training on implicit bias awareness per renewal period. A health care professional may count this one hour for completion of this course toward meeting the minimum credit hours required for continuing education. Any training on implicit bias awareness applied to meet any other State licensure requirement, professional accreditation or certification requirement, or health care institutional practice agreement may count toward the one-hour requirement.
