Beginning with DEA initial registrations or renewals starting June 27, 2023, all DEA-registered practitioners (with the exception of DVM-only license holders) are required to complete 8 hours of one-time training on the treatment and management of patients with opioid or other substance use disorders.
Mandatory Subjects:
Physicians with a NH DEA license need to include 3 hours in the area of pain management and addiction disorder or a combination thereof, as part of their 100 credits, pursuant to RSA: 318-b:40.
New Hampshire licensees may undertake continuing medical education (CME) courses to satisfy the biennial opioid prescribing competency requirement that meet the following criteria:
AMA PRA Category 1 credit or ACCME accreditation; and
The course abstract and learning objectives** reference opioid prescribing for the management or treatment of pain, or for the treatment of opioid use disorders.”
