Here's what you need to renew your Ohio Physician license

NEW! DEA MATE ACT:
Beginning with DEA initial registrations or renewals starting June 27, 2023, all DEA-registered practitioners (with the exception of DVM-only license holders) are required to complete 8 hours of one-time training on the treatment and management of patients with opioid or other substance use disorders.

Mandatory Subjects:
Effective May 31, 2021, MDs, DOs and DPMs are required to complete one hour of CME prior to renewal on the topic of a licensee’s duty to report misconduct. The enforcement of this requirement will commence with renewal applications submitted on or after July 1, 2021.

Medical marijuana (2 hours), for Physicians holding a certificate to recommend medical marijuana,  for certificate renewal every two years.

Mandatory Subjects:
According to Ohio Revised Code Section 4730.49, to be eligible for renewal of your license as a physician assistant with a valid prescriber number, you shall meet the requirements discussed above and complete every two years at least twelve hours of continuing education in pharmacology from an accredited institution recognized by the board.
 
If the holder of a physician assistant license, including a valid prescriber number, prescribes opioid analgesics or benzodiazepines, the holder must certify whether access to the drug database established and maintained by the State Board of Pharmacy has been granted.
