Duty to Report Misconduct
Ohio MDs and DOs must complete 1 hour on a licensee's duty to report misconduct every renewal period.
Note: The Board-provided video is currently the only approved training for this requirement and is not offered by Elite Learning.
Practice-Based or Conditional Requirements
Medical Marijuana Certificate to Recommend (CTR)
Physicians who wish to maintain or renew a medical marijuana CTR must complete 2 AMA PRA Category 1 credits on the topic every 2 years (for recertification/renewal only; initial certification requires an OSMA-certified course).

Office-Based Opioid Treatment (OBOT) Providers
Providers of office-based opioid treatment must complete at least 8 hours related to substance use disorder and addiction every 2 years.

Federal Requirements
DEA MATE Act Requirement
DEA-registered practitioners, except those who are solely veterinarians, must complete an 8-hour training on treating and managing patients with opioid or other substance use disorders. This applies one time to DEA registrations or renewals submitted on or after June 27, 2023.
