NEW! DEA MATE ACT:
Beginning with DEA initial registrations or renewals starting June 27, 2023, all DEA-registered practitioners (with the exception of DVM-only license holders) are required to complete 8 hours of one-time training on the treatment and management of patients with opioid or other substance use disorders.

Mandatory Subjects:
At least 40 percent of these hours must be osteopathic medical education.
 
Effective with the passage in Act 173 (2016), Sec. 9, Office of Professional Regulation (OPR) licensees with a registration number from the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), or who have a pending application for a DEA number, or who dispense controlled substances, shall complete at least two hours of continuing education as a condition of license renewal

Mandatory Subjects:
As an acknowledgement of the cancellation of many CME programs and conferences and the many hours of professional development performed by licensees to learn about COVID-19, the Board has reduced the CME requirement from 30 hours to 15 hours of AMA PRA Category 1 Creditâ„¢, including 1 hour addressing palliative care, hospice care, OR pain management, and 2 hours addressing prescribing-controlled substances for physicians with DEA registrations.
