And just like that, it’s 2017! January is a great time to start over and think about resolutions, goals, and self-reflections. New Year’s resolutions are usually based on personal goals, but this year think of resolutions/goals for your business. What can you do this year to better yourself as a salon professional or better your business for a more successful year? Here are five simple things you can do today for a better tomorrow.

  1. Be the best you possible.
    In order to provide your clients with the best service possible, you need to be at your best. This can mean different things to different people, but the gist of it is to set intentions every day to be 100% authentic and provide the best quality of care you can possibly give to each and every client.
  2. Be better organized.
    If you’re feeling overwhelmed with the goals you want to accomplish this year—make a list! Organize your needs by priority and start tackling them one by one. You can get a sense of accomplishment by something as simple as writing a list of chores and being able to check them off at the end of the day.
  3. Be present.
    2016 seemed to be a busy year for everyone and our minds are constantly wandering on to the next thing. Providing your clients with your undivided attention will require you to be in the now with each and every one of them. Being in the present while performing spa services can be a challenge, but you will start to notice positive changes in your services.
  4. Be grateful.
    At the end of each day, take a moment to think about or write down things you are thankful for. Reflection can be a great tool to better remind yourself of all the good you are doing—which will help you start your day tomorrow with a more positive outlook.
  5. Be happy.
    This is the most important thing you can do today for a better tomorrow. It’s easy to get caught up in drama and negativity especially in a salon setting. This negativity can easily stay with you throughout your day, and sometimes throughout the year. Each day, try to do something that makes you happy. When you wake up tomorrow you will be in a positive mindset to start the day fresh!
