Last month we asked our community to share inspiring stories about the nurse warriors in their life. The were many amazing submissions of breast cancer warriors who have demonstrated valor, inspiration, and positivity. Thank you so much to everyone who entered!
We are honored to announce that Pam, an Oncology Nurse Navigator for UF Health, is Elite Learning’s Warrior of the Year! Pam, pictured above in pink, was nominated by friend and colleague, Michelle, pictured above in black.
Here’s what Michelle had to say about Pam in her submission:
“Pam is a two-time breast cancer survivor who is also the UF Health Breast Cancer Nurse Navigator. She is responsible for caring for all the newly diagnosed breast cancer patients. She does a fantastic job. She also is the chair of a breast cancer support group, works with breast cancer organizations to raise funds, attends professional conferences and gives talks and presentations. Even when she had a relapse, she continued with her activities; all of this while raising her son and being a wife. She is truly amazing; working with the very scared, the very tired and the very angry. She is always positive even when helping a patient transition to hospice care. She uses her knowledge to empower patients and leads others by example. She is truly a remarkable woman who deserves recognition for a career well done. She inspires me to be a better nurse.”
Pam, you are a remarkable woman and a true inspiration to us all.
