What do I need to renew my LPN license in Pennsylvania  

LPNs in Pennsylvania must complete two (2) hours of board-approved training in child abuse recognition and reporting requirements for license renewal. 

  • Applicants must complete three (3) hours of Board-approved continuing education in child abuse recognition and reporting for initial licensure

What do I need to renew my RN license in Pennsylvania?   

RNs in Pennsylvania must complete thirty (30) hours of approved CE every two years. The next renewal deadline is October 31, 2024. 

  • Of those 30 hours, 2 hours must be Board-approved continuing education in child abuse recognition and reporting. (Applicants must complete 3 hours of Board-approved continuing education in child abuse recognition and reporting for initial licensure

What do I need to renew my CRNP license in Pennsylvania? 

CRNPs in Pennsylvania must complete thirty (30) hours of approved CE every two years. The next renewal deadline is October 31, 2024. 

  • Of those 30 hours, 2 hours must be Board-approved continuing education in child abuse recognition and reporting. (Applicants must complete 3 hours of Board-approved continuing education in child abuse recognition and reporting for initial licensure). 
  • CRNPs with prescriptive authority who have a current DEA registration, or who do not have a current DEA registration but who utilize the DEA registration number of another person or entity, as permitted by law, to prescribe controlled substances in any manner, must complete at least two (2) hours of continuing education in pain management, the identification of addiction or the practices of prescribing or dispensing of opioids. 

NEW! DEA MATE Act requirements for Pennsylvania APRNs  

Beginning with DEA initial registrations or renewals starting June 27, 2023, all DEA-registered practitioners (with the exception of DVM-only license holders) are required to complete 8 hours of one-time training on the treatment and management of patients with opioid or other substance use disorders.
