What do I need to renew my LVN/LPN license in Florida?
LVN/LPNs in Florida must complete approved CE every two years. The next license renewal for this group is July 31, 2025. A mandatory final examination with a passing score of 70% or higher is required for each course.
Mandatory courses include:
- General Hours (Sixteen (16) contact hours every 2-year renewal period)
- Prevention of Medical Errors (Two (2) contact hours every 2-year renewal period)
- Florida Laws and Rules (Two (2) contact hours every 2-year renewal period)
- Human Trafficking (Two (2) contact hours every 2-year renewal period)
- Recognizing Impairment in the Workplace (Two (2) contact hours every 2nd renewal)
- Domestic Violence (Two (2) contact hours every 3rd renewal; these hours are in addition to the 24 hours required for renewal)
- HIV/AIDS (One (1) contact hour; one-time requirement)

NEW! DEA MATE Act requirements for Florida APNs
Beginning with DEA initial registrations or renewals starting June 27, 2023, all DEA-registered practitioners (with the exception of DVM-only license holders) must complete 8 hours of one-time training on the treatment and management of patients with opioid or other substance use disorders.
