Neuro-Optometric Vision Rehabilitation and Developmental Optometry

The goal of this workshop, presented by Vincent R. Vicci Jr., O.D.P.A, will be to enhance therapists’ ability to identify and screen visual dysfunctions in individuals with traumatic brain injury, stroke and other neurological dysfunctions. All participants will learn how to design a vision rehabilitation program along a developmental sequence.  Day 1 will provide a broad overview of developmental vision care and screening. Interventions for binocular vision dysfunction, oculomotor dysfunction and accommodative dysfunction will be discussed. Treatment and management of focal and ambient processing problems will be reviewed.   Day 2 will provide an overview of balance disorders and visual spatial inattention. Interventions for visual-vestibular integration dysfunction will be discussed. Visual-perceptual testing and the impact of dyslexia on the learning mechanism will be examined.
