The ADA FDC Virtual Connect Conference is less than 10 days away from bringing dental professionals together virtually to enjoy learning and networking opportunities in a safe and flexible format.
“The ADA FDC Virtual Connect Conference will bring learning, networking and community to you — until we can meet in person again,” said Dr. Letitia Edwards, ADA FDC work group member. “You’ll feel connected to your dental community through evening panel sessions, networking events, wellness activities and learning opportunities. Stay tuned for a big announcement coming during the opening session.”
Evening panel sessions during the virtual conference will center on key issues in dentistry, including COVID-19 and Beyond: Leading a Profession Through Uncharted Territory on Oct. 15; The Essentialism of Oral Health: How Dentistry Fits in to an Evolving Healthcare Landscape on Oct. 16; and The Third Party Payer Landscape: How the ADA is Working for Dentists and the Public on Oct. 17.
Country music group Lady A will perform at 6:15 p.m. CDT Oct. 15, immediately following the opening session. Known for the nine-time-platinum hit “Need You Now,” Lady A has earned Academy of Country Music and Country Music Association Vocal Group of the Year trophies three years in a row, five Grammy Awards and numerous other honors, including Billboard Music Awards, People’s Choice Awards, Teen Choice Awards and a Tony Award nod. The virtual concert is sponsored by Laurel Road.
Attendees can connect virtually during community meetups following the Oct. 16 and 17 evening sessions, with activities such as a book club, beer tasting and trivia, and also focus on their wellness throughout the conference with a virtual 5K/10K, morning yoga, a fitness boot camp and sessions covering mindfulness, guided breathing and nutrition. The Oct. 16 meetups are sponsored by EdgeDental Specialties.
Participants in the 5K/10K can walk, run or bike to help bring awareness to children’s oral health needs and support Give Kids A Smile in its efforts to give children healthy smiles. If they post a photo from their workout on Facebook, Instagram or Twitter with #WalkforGKAS, #RunforGKAS or #BikeforGKAS, then they will receive a $10 electronic gift card to use for either ADA CE Online or an ADA Catalog purchase of more than $10.
Special continuing education programming will include a Simulated Malpractice Mock Trial: COVID-19 Lawsuit on Oct. 16 with Dr. Mitchell Gardiner, assistant clinical professor of restorative dentistry at the Rutgers School of Dental Medicine; the Dental Powerhouse Panel: Current Clinical Topics in Dentistry on Oct. 16; and Only the Strong Survive: Harness Your Strength on Oct. 17 with Dr. Frank Spear, co-founder and director of Spear Education.
The Virtual Exhibit Hall will be open 24/7. Dentists can interact with company representatives when the Exhibit Hall is staffed and also schedule appointments with the exhibitors during off hours. Dedicated hours will be from 4-5:30 p.m. CDT Oct. 15 and from noon-2 p.m. and 4-5:30 p.m. CDT Oct. 16-17.
Some of the participating companies include winners of the 2020 Cellerant Best of Class Technology Awards, which recognize innovative products that set the standard of quality in their respective categories and manufacturers who are pushing the envelope and reimagining how dental offices will operate in the future.
A Product Showcase with Dr. Paul Feuerstein as Your Guide, scheduled for 2-4 p.m. CDT Oct. 16, will take attendees on a virtual tour of a few Exhibit Hall booths with Dr. Feuerstein, technology editor of Dentistry Today, to learn about new products and services that could be helpful in their dental practices. Participating companies include EdgeDental Specialties, Lighthouse360, ABELDent, Shatkin F.I.R.S.T., DENTULU, Simplifeye, Mouthwatch and Weave.
