Aetna Applies to Launch Aetna Better Health of Maryland

Linthicum, MD – Aetna has announced that it filed an application earlier this year with the State of Maryland to participate as a Medicaid managed care organization, Aetna Better Health of Maryland. The application is pending review and approval by the Maryland Department of Health and Mental Hygiene.

“We are excited for this new prospect of building on our 30-year track record of successfully working with Medicaid recipients,” said Deb Bacon, interim head of Aetna Medicaid. “High-risk populations with complex, chronic health care needs will benefit from our experience and commitment to using innovative technology, payment reform and targeted health equity programs.”

Aetna Medicaid manages medically complex populations at the local, community-based level. Committed to value-based provider payment innovations, healthcare transformation and new technology in the delivery of healthcare, Aetna Medicaid manages care for nearly three million members across 17 states and 36 contracts.
