How do I renew my nursing license in Florida?
Every nurse licensed by the Florida Board of Nursing must renew their license biennially to continue practicing. To complete your license renewal:
- Go to www.flhealthsource.gov and click the “Renew A License” button. This will take you to the Licensed Practitioner login page.
- Enter your login information, then click the Login button.
- You may have to confirm or update your email address at this step. Once correct, click the “Continue” button.
- You are now in your Licensed Practitioner dashboard. During the renewal period, you should see the Renew My License option. This option will appear in your dashboard no later than 90 days before your license expiration date. (If you don’t see this option in your dashboard, you may have to check back later.)
- Click the Renew My License option and follow the instructions for renewal.
The Florida Board of Nursing will renew your license once they have received your:

When do Florida nurses need to renew their licenses?
The Board staggers Florida RNs and APRNs into three groups for renewal. Below are the renewal deadlines for each cohort.

- Group 2: Midnight, Eastern Standard Time, July 31, 2024
- Group 3: Midnight, Eastern Standard Time, April 30, 2025
Continuing education requirements for Florida RNs
As part of the renewal process, the Board requires Florida RNs to complete CE courses on the following topics:
- General hours: Sixteen (16) contact hours every 2-year renewal period
- Prevention of Medical Errors: Two (2) contact hours every 2-year renewal period
- Florida Laws and Rules: Two (2) contact hours every 2-year renewal period
- Human Trafficking: Two (2) contact hours every 2-year renewal period
- Recognizing Impairment in the Workplace: Two (2) contact hours every 2nd renewal
- Domestic Violence: Two (2) contact hours every 3rd renewal. These hours are in addition to the regular hours required for renewal.
- HIV/AIDS: One (1) contact hour; one-time requirement
RNs must pass a mandatory final examination for each course. The Board accepts 70% or higher as a passing score.
